Our Trip to the Zoo

Due to some technical downloading troubles, it has taken FOREVER to get these pictures online...but now I finally did, and I can tell you about our wonderful day at the Birmingham Zoo. This day began with a spur-of-the-moment trip with Charlie, me, Denise, and Morgan. We headed over there, kiddos were SO excited, and Denise and I were ready to brave the 98 degree temps of the day.

Here are our little ones at the start of the day...

...and this is what they looked like later on!! Tired, sweaty, but still ready for more fun!

Since the Bham Zoo has a great children's waterplay area, we came prepared...the kids loved it!

Charlie is just squealing with delight!!

And this picture here of Morgan is, quite possibly, my favorite picture of the day. It completely captures this little girl's carefree spirit and joyful heart. It makes me happy just looking at it!

Okay, we had to laugh at this! Both of them were exhausted but refused to quit playing, so they laid down to rest right in the middle of the sprinklers (that is, until they came on again...then they ran off giggling).

Snack time after waterplay...yes, Charlie LOVES being taken care of!! :)

Since this is a zoo, we did see the animals, too!!! Morgan wanted to ride the camel named "Spike," and Denise was happy to not have to ride along with her since I volunteered. It was quite a bumpy ride...I was more scared that the teeny tiny little girl that sat in front of me and LOVED IT!

Feeding some birds in the open-air birdhouse...they were a little scared of the birds being so close, but they eventually warmed up to it.

Yes, kids, this is bamboo!!

Before you ask about this next picture --- yes, there is glass between the tiger and Morgan! This picture is crazy!! The tiger was pacing back and forth at the glass, and Morgan was running back and forth with him. I snapped the shot, and it looks like they are about to go head to head!!!

This is sweaty me and my tired boy...

We had a great time with some great friends! We'll definitely be back many times this summer!
